Anne Timmons
Dessinatrice
I was born and raised in Milwaukie, Oregon. My parents were both teachers (dad: metal shop, mom: English), which my older brother took up. But I had the drawing bug and went to school for an art degree. I have been illustrating professionally for over ten years. After college, I flirted with acting in San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. I returned to my drawing roots and took a sequential art class at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, taught by Aaron Lopresti. This led to my entry into the frantic and fantastic world of comic art. For a while I was a member of the Portland-based studio, Studiosaurus, and worked with the other members on the comic C.H.I.X. This led to my attending Comic-Con International in San Diego, where I met Trina Robbins, who has been a guide and inspiration in my comic career. As far as awards go, I received the Kim Yale Award for Best New Talent from Friends of Lulu, and GoGirl! won Lulu of the Year. Dignifying Science, the anthology that includes “Wild Person in the Woods,” was nominated for an Eisner Award.
